Deleting images leaves file on disk (server specific)

I don't know if this is a safe-mode issue or something else, but Plogger will never delete picture files from disk when they are removed from the admin interface. When you try to delete collections or albums you get the error message "Files still left in directory after album/collection deleted. This shouldn't happen". I had to remove the "this shouldn't happen" part because it happened so much.

To top it all off, I can't delete the files from disk using my FTP client without getting a "Permission Denied" error. CHMOD does not alleviate this.

This problem appears to be server specific as well, as Anti has not had anything similiar happen on his copy.
